I’ll admit it: The contents of my jewelry box is a single-note sea of metal. And it’s no wonder — with the dainty jewelry trend raging on, we’re all well-stocked in the gold and silver realms. Luckily, there’s a new take shaking things up. Colourful jewelry, by way of resin, enamel, lucite and sparkly, coloured gems, feels undeniably modern, even if you’re a neutral palette devotee. Read on for our crop of Canadian-designed pieces to inspire you to build out that jewelry collection in colour.

Solid gold hoops are never going out of style, but this brilliant green resin pair, prime for executing a head-to-toe monochromatic look, is making the case for its own enduring quality.

Like something you’d collect at summer camp, just upgraded with freshwater pearls and coloured beads. It’s got that cool, can’t-be-replicated insouciance.

Wolf Circus ring, $190, wolfcircus.com

When we think about the ideal ring stack, a chunky, statement band is essential. Why couldn’t it be this one, adorned with a checkerboard pattern in a subtle mossy green?

Inspired by the Renaissance, these one-of-a-kind earrings from Montreal designer Caroline Pham feature hand-sculpted brass bows adorned with a large carnelian cabochon and a baroque freshwater pearl. Exquisite!

Par Ici bracelet, $249, paricijewellery.com

Made with vintage glass charms evocative of glossy, hard candies, this bracelet is all early-2000s nostalgia made for today.

Poppy Finch ring, $1,500, poppyfinch.com

A statement ring, an everyday ring and yes, even an engagement ring: This juicy, emerald-cut aquamarine, placed on a diamond-dotted band, really does it all.

Wasted effort earrings, $95, wastedeffort.ca

Remember Rockets? These drop earrings, designed with alternating translucent and opaque lucite, are stacked like the powdery confections of our youth.

Corey Moranis bracelet, $130, coreymoranis.com

We’d be remiss to round up the best tinted gems without mentioning revered lucite designer Corey Moranis.

Melanie Auld pendant, $105 (chain sold separately), melanieauld.ca

Known as the growth stone, citrine is said to cultivate confidence and energy. (Who couldn’t use more of that, right?) It’s also the most gorgeous shade of marigold.

Jenny Bird earrings, $110, nordstrom.ca

This one’s for the colour shy. Just a sliver of azure blue — hidden by the curve of high-polish hoops — is totally low commitment.
